Abstract
- A recent study conducted by the University of Patanjali in Uttarakhand, India, explored the effects of breath frequency on attention and mood states. The study involved 30 participants who practiced either high-frequency yoga breathing or bumblebee yoga breathing on separate days. The results showed that both types of breathing increased attention test scores, with high-frequency yoga breathing leading to increased vigor, positive affect, and diastolic blood pressure, while bumblebee yoga breathing resulted in decreased systolic blood pressure. The study suggests that these effects may be attributed to increased sympathetic activity and cortical activation in high-frequency yoga breathing, and parasympathetic activity and relaxation in bumblebee yoga breathing.
