Abstract
- A new report from researchers at the University of Reading in the United Kingdom explores the link between altered dietary intake and eating disorders, specifically anorexia nervosa (AN), bulimia nervosa (BN), and binge-eating disorder (BED). The researchers conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of thirty-nine studies to examine macronutrient intake across these disorders. The findings indicate that individuals with AN had low energy intake and under-consumed key micronutrients, while those with BED reported elevated macronutrient intake. The study highlights important diagnostic differences and provides valuable insights for risk assessment and treatment of eating disorders. [Extracted from the article]
