Abstract

A patent has been issued to the University of Massachusetts for a method of therapeutic alteration of transplantable tissues using RNA interference molecules. The invention aims to minimize organ rejection, transmission of viral infections during transplantation, and apoptosis in transplanted tissues. The RNA interference molecules can be delivered to transplantable tissues through various methods, such as perfusion or injection.
