Abstract
- Dental aesthetics is a significant concern for patients undergoing prosthodontic restorative treatments. Achieving beauty involves specific proportions in the face and teeth, with optimal symmetry, height, and width. Therefore, analysing facial and dental parameters is vital in dentistry. The selection of teeth is crucial for restoring aesthetics. This case report aims to provide an overview of facial and dental aesthetics, including the role of biomaterials in aesthetic restoration. The shape and size of anterior teeth are essential for pleasing dental and facial aesthetics, with harmony often following the golden proportion (GP). According to GP, the visible width of the lateral incisor should be 62% of the central incisor, and the visible width of the canine should be 62% of the lateral incisor. Various restorative biomaterials, such as ceramic/zirconia, composite, PEEK, and indirect resin, are used for anterior aesthetic restoration. Newer ceramic biomaterials and advanced treatment modalities are being developed to achieve superior aesthetic results. Porcelain veneers and dental composite restorations are effective in enhancing the shape and color of teeth, contributing to an improved dental appearance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
