Abstract
- A new medication called Trikafta has been added to Australia's Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS), providing hope for those suffering from cystic fibrosis. Previously unaffordable, Trikafta has given young sufferers a new lease on life. The McNamara family, who remortgaged their home to pay for the drug, played a significant role in advocating for its inclusion on the PBS. Trikafta has had remarkable results, improving lung function and even leading to natural pregnancies for some patients. While not suitable for all CF patients, the availability of Trikafta has brought optimism to the CF community in Australia. [Extracted from the article]
