Abstract

King Charles III is set to make his first visit to Australia as monarch, following in the footsteps of his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II. The King has a special relationship with Australia, dating back to his time as a student at Geelong Grammar's Timbertop in Victoria. This visit, which was delayed due to COVID restrictions and health issues, will be shorter than originally planned but will include visits to Canberra, NSW, and the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Samoa. The article also highlights key moments from some of King Charles's previous trips to Australia, including his time at Timbertop, his visits with Princess Diana, and an incident in 1994 where he was attacked during a speech. The Chair of The King's Trust Australia expresses excitement for the upcoming visit and shares stories of the impact of their programs. [Extracted from the article]
