Abstract
- This article discusses a case series of acquired dermal macular hyperpigmentation (ADMH) in women from North India who wore traditional bangles called "chooras." Ten women presented with asymptomatic hyperpigmentation on their forearms after wearing these bangles made of lac and dyed with red color. The hyperpigmentation was hypothesized to be a hypersensitivity reaction to an unknown component of the bangles. Treatment with topical tacrolimus and sunscreen resulted in significant improvement in hyperpigmentation. The article highlights the cultural practices that can lead to specific dermatoses in different populations. [Extracted from the article]
