Abstract

French oil company TotalEnergies has signed an agreement with South Korean company HD Hyundai Chemical to supply liquefied gas from 2027-2033. This is TotalEnergies' sixth LNG contract this year, and they will deliver 4.65 million tonnes of LNG to China, Turkey, and Singapore by the mid-2030s. The gas supplied to Hyundai Chemical will be partially indexed to Brent crude oil prices and partially to the Henry Hub, a US natural gas benchmark. TotalEnergies aims to secure long-term gas sales in Asia while reducing exposure to spot gas prices and hopes to increase its gas sales by 3% per year to reach 50% of its total sales before 2030.
