Abstract

A recent study conducted at Keimyung University in South Korea has developed a computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) system for breast ultrasound. The system utilizes a frequency domain technique to extract mass irregularity features, resulting in improved accuracy in tumor classification. The study used 5252 ultrasound breast tumor images, including both benign and malignant tumors, and employed a Support Vector Machine for classification. The CAD system demonstrated superior performance compared to traditional spatial gray level dependence (SGLD) and other features, providing a precise and quick distinction between benign and malignant breast tumors in clinical settings.
