Abstract
- Researchers from Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski University in Warsaw, Poland have conducted a study on the complexation of folic acid (FA) and its structural analog methotrexate (MTX) with cyclodextrins. The researchers found that the addition of simple sugars, such as D-glucose, D-galactose, and D-mannose, to cyclodextrins can enhance the complexation of FA and MTX. The study utilized experimental and theoretical methods to prove the complexation, and the results showed that the addition of a glucose subunit significantly increased the association constant for both FA and MTX. The research provides new insights into the field of pharmaceutics and may have implications for drug development. [Extracted from the article]
