Abstract
- A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) has found a potential association between metabolic markers at birth and sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). The study analyzed data from infants born in California between 2005 and 2011 and identified 14 metabolic markers that were significantly associated with SIDS. The researchers developed a model that included eight of these markers and found that it could accurately predict the risk of SIDS. These findings suggest that it may be possible to identify infants at increased risk for SIDS soon after birth, which could inform prevention efforts. [Extracted from the article]
