Abstract

A study conducted at Maulana Azad Medical College in New Delhi, India, aimed to investigate the levels of urinary biomarkers in children with type 1 diabetes (T1DM) as markers of tubular damage. The study included 40 T1DM children and 40 age-matched controls. The results showed that urinary biomarkers neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL) and beta-2-microglobulin (beta 2M) were elevated in T1DM children, indicating early tubular damage. The study suggests that these biomarkers could be useful in detecting kidney damage in T1DM children. [Extracted from the article]
