Abstract
- A recent study conducted at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center explored the feasibility of implementing Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) in pediatric urology. ERAS is a perioperative care approach that has shown improved outcomes in adult surgeries but has limited evidence in the pediatric population. The study involved eight centers and found that ERAS was successfully implemented for complex lower urinary tract reconstruction through a multidisciplinary team and a structured approach. The study identified barriers to implementation, such as difficulty maintaining compliance and a lack of resources. The findings highlight the importance of a multidisciplinary team and continuous audit for successful implementation of ERAS in pediatric urology. [Extracted from the article]
