Abstract
- A study conducted at Aarupadai Veedu Medical College and Hospital in Puducherry, India, examined the diagnostic accuracy of measuring the optic nerve sheath diameter (ONSD) using ultrasound to predict increased intracranial pressure in pediatric patients. The study analyzed 25 studies with a total of 1591 patients and found that ONSD measured via ultrasound had a sensitivity of 92% and specificity of 89% for predicting increased intracranial pressure. The researchers recommend routine ocular ultrasound for measuring ONSD in pediatric patients to improve the accuracy of diagnosing increased intracranial pressure. This research has been peer-reviewed and published in World Neurosurgery. [Extracted from the article]
