Abstract
- A recent report from Texas State University evaluated the effectiveness of Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) training with law enforcement officers. The study found that the training led to immediate improvements in mental health knowledge, confidence to engage in help-seeking behaviors, intentions to intervene, and attitudes towards youth with mental health needs. However, most of these improvements diminished after a 90-day follow-up, with only confidence and preparedness continuing to show improvement. The implications of these findings for law enforcement officers, their agencies, and researchers are discussed. [Extracted from the article]
