Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Ottawa in Canada examined the prevalence of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and emotional disorders in children between birth and 9 years of age. The study compared data from three different sources: parent-reported diagnoses, clinically elevated symptoms using a standardized questionnaire, and diagnoses from administrative health data. The researchers found that these data sources provided different estimates of mental health difficulties in early childhood, indicating that they serve different purposes. The study highlights the importance of early identification and intervention for mental health difficulties in young children. [Extracted from the article]
