Abstract

A report from Ilam University in Iran discusses the effects of dietary medicinal plants on broiler chickens challenged with Campylobacter jejuni. The study found that the addition of Echinacea purpurea and Thymbra spicata to the chickens' diets improved their performance, nutrient digestibility, serum biochemistry, intestinal morphology, intestinal microbiota, and immune responses. The research suggests that these phytogenic additives could help alleviate the adverse effects of Campylobacter jejuni on broiler chickens. The study was supported by Ilam University and published in the journal Veterinary Medicine and Science. [Extracted from the article]
