Abstract

Researchers at Teikyo University in Tokyo, Japan have conducted a study on the transport of ribavirin, an antiretroviral agent used to treat hepatitis C, across the blood-testis barrier (BTB). The study found that ribavirin is transported across the BTB through carrier-mediated processes. The researchers discovered that ENT2, a type of nucleoside transporter, partially contributes to the transport of ribavirin at the BTB. This research provides valuable insights into the mechanism of ribavirin transport and its potential impact on male reproductive toxicity. [Extracted from the article]
