Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at the Department of Internal Medicine has found a genetic variance in heparan sulfation that is associated with salt sensitivity in individuals with hypertension. The study examined the interactions between variants in glycosaminoglycan genes and daily sodium excretion on blood pressure in a large sample of participants. The results showed that certain genetic variants were associated with higher blood pressure in high sodium conditions. These findings highlight the potential significance of genetic glycosaminoglycan variation in regulating blood pressure. [Extracted from the article]
