Abstract
- Rogers Communications Inc. is acquiring BCE Inc.'s 37.5% stake in Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment Ltd. for C$4.7 billion ($3.5 billion), giving them a majority stake in the company. Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment owns the Toronto Maple Leafs hockey club and the Toronto Raptors. The deal will not affect Rogers' debt leverage and is expected to close in mid-2025. BCE plans to use the proceeds to reduce its debt levels. Bell Media has also secured content rights for the Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Raptors on TSN for the next 20 years through a long-term agreement with Rogers. [Extracted from the article]
