One undescribed glycoside benzofuran derivative and a new p-hydroxybenzoate glycoside from the leaves of Illicium dunnianum Tutcher.

One undescribed benzofuran derivative (illiciumphenolicacid A, 1) and one new phenolic glycoside (illiciumphenolicacid B, 2), together with six known compounds (3–8) were isolated from the leaves of Illicium dunnianum Tutcher. Their structures were elucidated by detailed spectroscopic data (UV, IR, HR-ESI-MS, 1D and 2D NMR). In addition, we determined the α-glucosidase inhibitory activity of the isolates in vitro using spectrophotometric methods. Compared with the positive control acarbose (IC₅₀ 306.2 ± 4.1 μM), compounds 1–8 were shown to be moderate potential α-glucosidase inhibitory activity with IC₅₀ values in the range 380–655 μM.
