Abstract

Indonesia is currently experiencing a constitutional crisis characterized by government defiance of court rulings, nepotism, and violent repression of public protests. The crisis stems from the House of Representatives' attempt to overturn two key Constitutional Court decisions regarding political party nominations for local elections and the minimum age requirement for regional head candidates. The House's actions, seen as an attempt to undermine the court's authority, have sparked nationwide discontent and accusations of authoritarianism and nepotism. Public protests have been met with police brutality, leading to concerns about Indonesia's democracy and human rights protections. The crisis is ongoing and unlikely to be resolved before President Prabowo Subianto's inauguration in October. [Extracted from the article]
