Abstract

A recent study conducted by the University of Birmingham explores the impact of exercise on individuals with type 1 diabetes (T1D). The study aims to determine whether a 12-week exercise program can reduce disease activity in adults diagnosed with T1D within the past 3 years. The exercise intervention consists of high-intensity interval training sessions, and the frequency and proliferative state of islet-reactive CD8+ T-cells will be measured as the primary outcome. The findings of this study may provide a basis for larger trials to evaluate the implementation of exercise in routine clinical care for individuals recently diagnosed with T1D.
