Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers from the Agency for Science Technology and Research (ASTAR) in Singapore provides new insights into the immune-pathological biomarkers and underlying mechanisms of functional cure (FC) in patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB). The study utilized single-cell transcriptomics, flow cytometry-based immune phenotyping, and immunofluorescence to analyze intrahepatic tissue and peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from CHB patients and those who achieved FC. The findings revealed specific cell identities and molecular signatures associated with FC, including an altered adaptive immune response and an activated innate response. The study suggests that these discoveries may have broader implications for the resolution of chronic viral hepatitis. [Extracted from the article]
