Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Manitoba explored the impact of preoperative mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) on total knee arthroplasty (TKA) experiences. The study involved 10 participants who received MBSR prior to their surgery and participated in interviews about their experiences. The findings revealed that participants reported feeling more relaxed, confident, and better able to cope during the preoperative period. They also noted positive changes in their lives following their participation in MBSR. The researchers suggest that further research could explore the integration of MBSR into prehabilitation for TKA. [Extracted from the article]
