Abstract
- A study presented at the ESC Congress 2024 in London compared the effectiveness of cryoballoon (CB) ablation and radiofrequency (RF) ablation in heart failure patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). The study found that CB ablation was as effective as RF ablation in reducing recurrences of AF and atrial tachycardia at one year. CB ablation also had the benefit of shorter procedure time and less fluid volume, potentially reducing the risk of worsening heart failure. The study concluded that CB ablation should be considered as a simplified and effective procedure for treating AF in most heart failure patients. [Extracted from the article]
