Abstract
- A recent study conducted by researchers from the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery explores the morphological and functional characteristics of transthyretin-derived amyloid cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM) within the left ventricle (LV) across heart failure (HF). The study utilized 2-dimensional speckle-tracking echocardiography and cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) to assess longitudinal strain (LS), native T1, and extracellular volume (ECV) in ATTR-CM patients. The findings suggest that the basal inferoseptal segment of the LV is highly susceptible to amyloid infiltration, and LS analysis and CMR may serve as valuable tools for early detection. This research provides valuable insights into the understanding and detection of ATTR-CM. [Extracted from the article]
