Abstract

A recent report from Tamil Nadu, India discusses the use of ultrasound-assisted upper thoracic epidural anesthesia in awake breast surgeries. Traditionally, general anesthesia has been used for modified radical mastectomy procedures, but it is not ideal for patients with certain conditions. The study presented a case series of 10 female patients who underwent the surgery under ultrasound-assisted thoracic epidural anesthesia and remained awake throughout. The technique was successful with no complications reported, making it a safe and effective alternative for patients. [Extracted from the article]
