Abstract

A recent report from Mansoura University discusses the potential use of natural products as a complementary therapeutic approach for managing obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). The researchers reviewed scientific databases and literature from the past twenty years to identify natural components and traditional formulas that could regulate molecular targets involved in OSA. They found promising results from in-vitro, in-vivo, and clinical trials, suggesting that certain natural products, such as cinnamic acid derivatives, isoflavones, and lignans, could be effective in managing OSA. However, the researchers noted some limitations in the studies, such as small sample sizes and subjective scoring methods. Overall, the study suggests that non-conventional polypharmacological strategies targeting various aspects of OSA could be beneficial. [Extracted from the article]
