Abstract
- A recent study conducted by Sohag University in Egypt has found that the accumulation of microcystin toxin in irrigation water and alfalfa plants poses a potential risk to animal health. The study revealed that both irrigation water and alfalfa shoots contained higher concentrations of microcystin during the summer compared to winter. These concentrations were correlated with the presence of cyanobacteria in the sites, indicating a potential risk for animals that consume contaminated water or food. The researchers recommend regular monitoring of cyanotoxins in forage plants and irrigation water sources to protect animals from consuming contaminated substances. [Extracted from the article]
