Abstract
- A study conducted in Maharashtra, India compared the surgical outcomes of laparoscopic ventral mesh rectopexy (LVMR) and stapled transanal rectal resection (STARR) for managing obstructed defecation syndrome (ODS). The study included 162 patients who underwent either LVMR or STARR between January 2015 and January 2022. The results showed that LVMR was more effective in alleviating ODS symptoms compared to STARR. However, the study had limitations, including a small sample size and a short follow-up period. The research was conducted by Sanatan Bhandarkar and his colleagues from the Department of Surgery at Zen Multispeciality Hospital in Mumbai. [Extracted from the article]
