Abstract
- A grain ship carrying wheat from Ukraine to Egypt was hit by a Russian missile immediately after leaving Ukrainian waters, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy. This is the first time since the 2022 invasion that a ship with Ukrainian grain has been hit in neutral waters. While Ukraine's grain export volumes have remained resilient despite previous attacks on its infrastructure, traders are now using more expensive trade routes. Ukraine plans to notify the United Nations and the International Maritime Organization of the incident. Wheat futures in Chicago rose after the attack. [Extracted from the article]
