Abstract
- The Ukrainian eyewear market experienced a rebound in 2023 after facing challenges related to the war. Sales, imports, and production all increased, but the future of the market depends on the situation on the battlefield. Ukraine heavily relies on imports for eyewear goods, with 95 percent of all categories being imported. The decline in imports in 2023 was due to uncertainty and the sea blockade by Russian forces. Domestic production also dropped significantly. The market value increased in 2023, but it has not yet reached pre-war levels. The luxury segment saw a decline in demand, and many retailers temporarily closed their stores to protect employees during the war. The future of the market remains uncertain, with factors such as the end of hostilities, economic growth, and the return of Ukrainian refugees playing a role in further growth. The market also faces challenges such as a labor shortage and power outages. [Extracted from the article]
