Abstract

This article, published in the journal Ultrasound in Obstetrics & Gynecology, examines the flow characteristics of the aortic isthmus in fetuses with coarctation of the aorta (CoA). The study, conducted at a tertiary hospital in Barcelona, Spain, included 33 fetuses with confirmed CoA. The researchers used color and pulsed Doppler to evaluate the flow at the aortic isthmus level. The findings suggest that persistent diastolic flow is the most common flow pattern in fetuses with CoA, while bidirectional reverse flow appears more frequently in the third trimester. Further research is needed to confirm these results and their potential clinical implications. [Extracted from the article]
