Abstract

This article discusses a study conducted in Denmark to improve the clinical management of adnexal masses, which are growths in the ovaries or fallopian tubes. The study compared the diagnostic efficiency of two ultrasound-based risk models, ADNEX and RMI, for making clinical decisions. The researchers implemented systematic ultrasound descriptions according to IOTA criteria in gynecological departments across the Central Denmark Region. The results showed that ADNEX had a higher diagnostic performance compared to RMI for identifying malignancy in adnexal masses. The study highlights the feasibility and advantages of implementing IOTA terminology and predictive models in a national setting, but also emphasizes the need for ultrasound education.
