Abstract

A report from the University of Bologna in Italy discusses the use of yoga as an alternative therapy for breast cancer survivors with lymphedema. Lymphedema is a common complication of breast cancer surgery that can have a negative impact on quality of life. The researchers conducted a review of randomized controlled trials and found that yoga, when combined with standard care, may improve physical, professional, and emotional quality of life for these patients. Yoga may also reduce symptoms such as fatigue, pain, and insomnia, and improve mobility and strength. [Extracted from the article]
