Abstract

A study conducted by researchers at the General Hospital of Ningxia Medical University has investigated the role of SPRY4 intronic transcript 1 (SPRY4-IT1) in gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST). The study found that SPRY4-IT1, a long non-coding RNA, is highly expressed in GIST and enhances the activation and expression of KIT, a proto-oncogene. This leads to increased cell survival, proliferation, and resistance to imatinib, a targeted therapeutic drug for GIST. The findings provide new insights into the regulation of KIT signaling and the resistance of GIST to targeted therapy. [Extracted from the article]
