Abstract

A study conducted by researchers at Lahore University of Management Sciences in Pakistan has identified a potential covalent inhibitor for drug-resistant genotype 3 variants of Hepatitis C viral NS3/4A serine protease. The researchers investigated mutagenic variations in the binding pocket of the virus and evaluated ligands for inhibition. They found that a compound called cpd-217 showed significant covalent docking scores with all NS3/4A G3 variants. Further in vitro and in vivo studies are needed to validate the potential of cpd-217 as an inhibitor. This study provides a theoretical foundation for drug design and development targeting Hepatitis C genotype 3 NS3/4A. [Extracted from the article]
