Abstract
- A recent study conducted at the University Hospital of Vigo in Spain explored the use of spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) in assessing the outcomes of surgery for idiopathic epiretinal membrane (ERM). The study analyzed the impact of anatomical factors on visual acuity before and after surgery, focusing on the presence of ectopic inner foveal layers (EIFL), macular edema (ME), ellipsoid zone (EZ) disruption, and disorganization of the retinal inner layer (DRIL). The findings demonstrated the prognostic value of these factors in predicting post-surgical visual acuity and offer insights for personalized treatment strategies. [Extracted from the article]
