Abstract
- Researchers at the Open University of Israel have discovered a new family of single-stranded anion receptors called thio-hemi-cucurbiturils (thio-hCBs), which have the ability to bind various anions through multiple hydrogen bonds and dispersion forces. These receptors exhibit conformational adaptation and an induced fit, allowing for more flexible host-guest complexation. The thio-hCBs can be synthesized through a sustainable and environmentally friendly process, and they have potential applications in water systems, environmental remediation, and biomedicine. The research was supported by the ISF-NSFC joint research program. [Extracted from the article]
