Abstract

A report from Beijing Normal University in China discusses a study on social, emotional, and behavioral (SEB) skills in the workplace. The study aimed to determine if SEB skills predict work-related outcomes, if they provide additional value compared to personality traits, and if the joint effect of SEB skills and traits is additive or multiplicative. The results, based on a sample of real estate agents in China, showed that SEB skills are related to work outcomes such as citizenship behaviors and job satisfaction. The study also found that SEB skills have incremental validity beyond personality traits in predicting outcomes. The researchers discuss the implications of these findings for the SEB skills literature and practice. [Extracted from the article]
