Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers from the University of Denver explores the concept of "home" among emerging adults (ages 18-25) living in permanent supportive housing (PSH). The study, which used ontological security theory as a lens, found that factors such as time spent in one place, the ability to contemplate future plans, trust in other residents and staff, consistent policies, and a positive sense of safety and control all influenced the residents' sense of home. These findings provide valuable insights for PSH service providers in supporting residents and promoting ontological security during the unique developmental phase of emerging adulthood.
