Researchers from Hebei University of Technology in Tianjin, China have developed a new synthetic strategy for constructing oxygen-containing tricyclic frameworks, which have potential anti-tumor activities. The strategy involves using propargylic alcohols and 2-allylphenols as substrates in the presence of bismuth(III) trifluoro-methanesulfonate and silver trifluoromethanesulfonate. The researchers found that the compounds produced through this method exhibited anti-tumor activities against colon, breast, and liver cancer cell lines.
