The Plastics Crisis.

The article discusses a study published in "The New England Journal of Medicine" which assessed outcomes in patients who underwent carotid endarterectomy for asymptomatic disease. It was found that plastic polymers were detected in the removed plaques of 58 percent of patients and these patients had a higher composite risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, or all-cause death. Also mentioned is a separate study which investigated the effects of chemical additives in plastics.
