Abstract

The study aimed to examine the alignment of the standards of Trends in International Science and Mathematics Study (TIMSS) with the fourth-grade Cambridge Mathematics curriculum from the perspective of mathematics teachers and supervisors in the Sultanate of Oman. To achieve these goals, a sample of 616 female teachers and supervisors (584 female teachers, 32 supervisors) responded to the list of TIMSS standards. The study showed that the alignment between the list of standards and the curriculum was acceptable in general, as well as for all dimensions of the standards except for the measurement standards, which showed a high alignment level. Results showed that the algebraic expressions had the lowest alignment level. The study recommended reviewing some topics in the Cambridge Mathematics curriculum and modifying them to align better with the TIMSS standards. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
