Abstract
- According to automotive researcher J.D. Power, electric vehicles (EVs) are expected to make up only 9% of car sales in the US this year, down from the previous forecast of 12.4%. This revision comes after Ford Motor Co. scaled back its EV strategy and other automakers, like Volkswagen AG, delayed production of EVs due to slowing demand. J.D. Power attributes the slower growth of EVs to increased competition from gasoline-powered vehicle alternatives, such as gas-electric hybrids, and consumer concerns about public charging infrastructure. J.D. Power predicts that EVs will account for 36% of US sales by 2030, falling short of President Joe Biden's target of 50%. [Extracted from the article]
