Abstract
- A study conducted by researchers at Menoufia University in Shibin Al Kawm, Egypt, explored the relationship between platelet morphological parameters, lipid profile, and a specific single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) called rs7961894 in children with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM). The study found that children with T1DM had higher mean platelet volume (MPV), platelet distribution width (PDW), total cholesterol (TC), and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) compared to healthy controls. Additionally, the rs7961894 CT genotype was associated with significant changes in MPV, PDW, and plateletcrit (PCT) values, as well as alterations in lipid parameters. These findings highlight the importance of monitoring platelet parameters and lipid profile in children with T1DM to identify potential cardiovascular risks early. [Extracted from the article]
