Abstract

New research conducted by the South African Medical Research Council focuses on poverty-related diseases (PRD) as leading causes of death in children under five in sub-Saharan Africa. The research aims to enhance the development of clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) based on the best available evidence to strengthen health systems and improve access to healthcare for children. The Global Evidence, Local Adaptation (GELA) project will be implemented in Malawi, South Africa, and Nigeria over a three-year period. The project will monitor and evaluate the impact of its activities on evidence-informed decision-making and guideline adaptation capacities and processes through a mixed-methods study design. Ethical approval has been obtained for the research. [Extracted from the article]
