Reports Outline Cancer Findings from Ufa State Petroleum Technological University (Cytotoxic and Antioxidant Activity of a Series of 4-methylene-1,3-dioxolane Acetals).

Researchers from Ufa State Petroleum Technological University in Ufa, Russia have conducted a study on the cytotoxic and antioxidant activity of a series of 4-methylene-1,3-dioxolane acetals. The compounds synthesized did not exhibit cytotoxic activity against human colon, liver, lung, and breast cancer cell lines, nor did they increase tumor cell proliferation. However, compounds 14 and 15 showed some ability to neutralize the negative effects of reactive oxygen species. This research was supported by the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia.
