Abstract

A study conducted at the University of Valencia in Spain aimed to develop a screening strategy for viral hepatitis elimination in Spain. The study found that the prevalence of hepatitis B (HBV) was 0.44%, with higher rates in men and migrants compared to women and Spanish nationals. The prevalence of hepatitis C (HCV) was 0.35%, again higher in men and migrants compared to women and Spanish nationals. The study highlights the need for targeted interventions for individuals aged 45-64 and migrants, and emphasizes the importance of designing specific screening programs in collaboration with social workers and cultural mediators to improve access to care.
